What Does an Industrial Electrician Do for Your Facility?
An industrial electrician installs, repairs, and maintains the high-capacity electrical systems that run manufacturing plants, processing facilities, and warehouses. At Meyers Electric in Rice Lake, WI, that means 3-phase power distribution, motor controls, control panels, and machine wiring, all built to code and scheduled around your production.
We serve manufacturers, warehouses, and processing facilities across Barron, Chippewa, and Eau Claire counties. Every project covers the full scope: load assessment, design coordination, permitting, installation, inspection, and ongoing maintenance. You work with one local team that has delivered industrial electrical services in Northwestern Wisconsin since 1986, and our crews answer emergency calls 24/7 when a line goes down.
Why Industrial Electrical Failures Happen in Local Facilities
Most industrial electrical failures trace back to one cause: a system carrying more than it was built for. Facilities in Rice Lake, Chippewa Falls, and across Northwest Wisconsin add machines, shifts, and square footage while panels, feeders, and controls stay the same. Cold-weather loads, dust, and moisture turn those weak points into unplanned shutdowns. Our industrial electricians find them early through infrared inspections and predictive maintenance programs, before they stop production.
- Equipment downtime from failing wiring, contactors, or control circuits
- Aging switchgear and panels that can't support modern machinery
- Voltage drops, phase imbalance, and poor power quality
- Run-to-failure maintenance that drives up emergency repair costs
- Overloaded panels and undersized 3-phase service
- Faulty machine wiring, PLC I/O, or motor control integration
- NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA compliance gaps

- Why Choose Us
Why Choose Meyers Electric for Industrial Work
Choose an industrial electrician who plans the work around your production, not the other way around. Our process is simple. We assess and advise with a clear scope and honest recommendations, install or repair around your shifts and shutdowns, then confirm and stand behind the work with testing, documentation, and inspection sign-off. One local crew covers Rice Lake, Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Ladysmith, and the rest of Northwestern Wisconsin.
Licensed, Insured & Code-Compliant Work
Code-compliant industrial electrical work protects your people, your equipment, and your insurance standing. Meyers Electric is a licensed, insured Wisconsin electrical contractor, and every industrial installation follows the National Electrical Code as adopted in Wisconsin under SPS 316, plus local requirements.
On site, our electricians follow OSHA electrical safety standards, including lockout/tagout, and NFPA 70E safe work practices [CLIENT TO CONFIRM]. Maintenance programs can be built around NFPA 70B, now a mandatory maintenance standard, so equipment is inspected, tested, and documented on a defensible schedule.
The result: fewer violations, lower liability, and electrical systems built and documented to handle continuous industrial loads for the long term.

We have a Cummins emergency generator that's been in service for 12 years and twice over the past year has required on site repairs. My local electrician recommended contacting Meyers, and when I did they promptly responded in were at our home the next day. (We're over an hour from Rice Lake....) Austin is the technician that showed up to do the work, and in both cases he quickly discovered the issues and replaced failed parts to get us up and running again. On the second call, he suggested he could take the broken part to a local welder to repair, rather than pay over $1000 for a replacement component from Cummins. It took a few days to get that repair done, but I can only imagine what the bill would have been if I would called our Cummins service from Duluth! Meyers is a class act, and I very much appreciate Jake and Austin and the rest of the Meyers Electric crew.Posted on Google![]()

Wow, I had three small electrical projects I wanted quotes for. They grouped them together in one quote the first time, then three weeks later they sent a refined quote separating parts and labor. All I wanted was quotes for the three projects but the office manager refused to pass on the message and instead wanted me to again speak with someone from the field, which I have already done. She repeatedly said it was too complicated... one project was to replace two dimmer switches, the other project is to replace two bathroom exhaust fans, the third is to run electricity down a hill to have an outlet 30 yards from the home. Yeah, I guess they are too complicated.
- FAQ’s
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an industrial electrician do?
An industrial electrician installs, maintains, and repairs the electrical systems that power manufacturing and processing facilities. That includes 3-phase distribution, motor control centers, VFDs, control panels, PLC wiring, and backup power. Meyers Electric’s industrial electricians handle this work for plants across Rice Lake and Northwestern Wisconsin.
What is the difference between an industrial and a commercial electrician?
A commercial electrician focuses on offices, retail, and public buildings: lighting, receptacles, and lighter building loads. An industrial electrician works with heavy 3-phase power, motors, controls, and production equipment where downtime affects output. Meyers Electric does both. For business properties, see our commercial electrical services.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency industrial electrical service?
Yes. Meyers Electric provides 24/7 emergency electrical service for facilities in Rice Lake, Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and across Northwestern Wisconsin. If equipment is down, a panel is hot, or you smell burning insulation, keep people clear and call (715) 234-3901. Learn what counts as an electrical emergency.
How much do industrial electrical services cost?
Industrial electrical costs depend on scope: system voltage, equipment, conduit runs, shutdown requirements, and permitting. A control wiring repair and a new 3-phase service are very different projects. Meyers Electric provides free estimates with a clear, itemized scope. Financing is available for panel replacements and generator installs.
What codes apply to industrial electrical work in Wisconsin?
Industrial electrical work in Wisconsin follows the National Electrical Code as adopted under SPS 316, administered by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). OSHA governs workplace electrical safety, NFPA 70E covers safe work practices, and NFPA 70B sets maintenance requirements. Meyers Electric handles permits and inspections for your project.
Which Wisconsin communities does your industrial team serve?
Meyers Electric serves industrial facilities from Rice Lake across Northwestern Wisconsin, including Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Barron, Cumberland, Spooner, Hayward, Chetek, Clear Lake, Balsam Lake, Siren, Webster, Minong, Cameron, Ladysmith, and Shell Lake.
